Day 3: Tea Country (part 4)

Although we had a heavy breakfast of cheese omelet, ham, bacon, sausage, and toast (quite heavy huh?), the morning excursion made us ravenously hungry! All that walk have given us all an appetite --- this is definitely goodbye diet!

We want to visit our neighbor, The Grand Hotel, just for a change of scenery. The selection for the lunch buffet is quite okay (not exactly 5star standards but otherwise it’s more than satisfactory!) and the salad bar is fantastic with lots of choices especially with the cheese.

I’m not sure whether he is a Restaurant Manager or the F&B Manager but he was very nice and told us that he had previously worked in UAE and had lots of Filipino friends. Good thing he was being solicitous coz we kept on asking his staffs to take photos of us while we were there!

The place is not that formal and is full of out-of-towners, young locals with their families on holiday. It’s a nice change from The Hill Club although I still would prefer the private atmosphere in THC.

It was raining outside the whole afternoon so we decided to just chill out and “enjoy our beds” --- Langga’s favorite activity! We need to take a “beauty rest” too for our dinner tonight coz its going to be formal.

The dress code specifies, coat and tie for men, formal dress or national dress (in the case of Srilankans) for women. Oh la la….we felt like we are on our prom night! Hahahaha

It was a blast! Although we had a slight faux pas when we came down, the FO supervisor saw us coming and when he noticed that Langga was not wearing a coat (L thought that the sweater is okay coz it look chica already!), he immediately offered to loan him one and showed him to the coat room in a very discreet manner! Top notch discretion….very professional.

After dinner, we went to have tea near the fireplace --- so English chica! Lol…. Kalokers! We called it our pre-Thanksgiving dinner, coz well, it’s almost Thanksgiving anyways!

Just one more stop before we zonked off to sleep……a few drinks at the bar at Grand Hotel. The bar was full of Caucasian guests. I think we were the only Asians there and you feel as if you are transplanted in a pub somewhere in Europe (what with the accents as well of our neighbors!!!).

On our way back to our room, we are still debating on where to go the next day. According to the itinerary I had previously prepared, we are supposed to head on to Haputale (about 2hrs away from Nuwara Eliya by train) and then take the sleeper train from there to Colombo. But Langga wants to see temples and elephants, he won the debate so we will be going to Kandy instead and staying overnight there tomorrow.

That red dress is so beautiful and its model, in the picture taken in front of the unlit fireplace, is so elegant!
