Happy birthday to me!!!!
The problem with being in a tour group is you don't own your time. You have a fixed itinerary that you have to follow and abide, if you are late....patay ka sa mga kasama mo! lol
We had a full-packed itinerary for the day, starting with a tour around the city in the morning and Disneyland tour in the afternoon. Kawawa ang mga senior citizens! One thing that you have to remember when travelling with older people (as in 60s and above) who have special medical conditions, always bring packed food (it is not supposed to be allowed inside the tour bus, pero helloooo naman!) all the time! Tour guides (some of them lang naman) only has their timetable in mind, so if its getting late already they will not bother about food stops!
My father was complaining about our buffet breakfast, not from the selection but from the lack of rice! Ayan kasi ang mga mahilig kumain ng kanin di mabuhay kahit isang meal lang na walang kanin! Hahaha And when we came out from the hotel, it was drizzling outside.....its even colder than yesterday!
Our City Tour started from the Avenue of Stars at the Harbourfront in Tsim Sha Tsui. Patterned after the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this strip of pathway in the waterfront area is dotted with handprints from famous Hongkong movie stars.

It was freezing cold accdg to my mom, even with a thick coat! |
|
Mahangin talaga sa labas.....lol |
|
O sya....its me and the love of my life, Jet Li....kapit-kamay na lang! hahahaha |
We were given only 30minutes to go around at the harbour area then its back to the tour bus for the usual "tourist trap" stops like the Jewelry City and souvenir shops.

Artisans at work... |
The last stop was at the Abeerdeen fishing village na hindi naman mukhang fishing village. All we saw were mukhang peke na mga junk boats going back & forth under a bridge.
My previous city tour in Hongkong last year was way way better! I think it entirely depends on your tour guide and how he/she will carry you with stories and anecdotes of the places you are going, we also had a much more culturally-connected itinerary with temple visits, etc.
We did not stop for lunch despite our requests from the tour guide to stop over somewhere for a meal. When we arrived at Disneyland, we were so hungry! Bwisit talaga na tour guide yun!

Mickey mouse on a surfboard.....hehehe |
Entrance fee to Disneyland is a very expensive HK$ 399/- per person (or around 60usd). If it was me alone on this trip I will never use that money to pay exorbitant fees like that for an amusement park!
After the entrance gate, you will immediately be captivated by the sight of this quaint-looking building --- the train station. There is also a train going around the perimeter of the park complete with an authentic railroad track, aside from the main station, there is another stop near Fantasy Land.
The park is composed of 5 areas, Main Street USA is the first area that you will come across. The street is fashioned after the early 20th century USA that makes you think of John Wayne and the Old Old West. There are also period vehicles plying the area that gives that atmosphere of old town America.
The whole street is lined up with shops with names like Carriage House, Main Street Cinema, etc. The information center is even located inside the City Hall!
For lunch, we veered off to
Fantasy Land and went inside the cavernous dining hall in a medieval, fairy tale setting. I love the interiors! The Royal Banquet Hall is a cheaper dining option in the park but has the widest menu variety available. If you are on a budget better look for this place.

I am really in foodie heaven in HK.....I can eat siomai 24/7 here!!! lol |
Kids will really love Fantasy Land. I can still remember the time when my niece, Eiesha, was in her "princess" mood. She only wants to wear Princess slippers, shirts, bags, shoes, etc. An eight-year old let loose here will definitely enjoy every moment of it. For adults, the picture-perfect castle is a bit too much Cinderella-esque......pero picture pa rin! hahahaha
The parents and adults accompanying their kids in the park will have more fun at Adventureland. It has more creative attractions and activities like going on a Jungle River Cruise (the queue is really long!), even my mom enjoyed the whole cruise especially the surprise at the end.
|
The surprising fire-and-water dramatic finale..... |
|
As in nagulat lahat ng turista! hahahaha |
While on the cruise boat, you will also pass by Tarzan's Island and its beautiful tree house overlooking the river.
|
I want to have one like this at home also!!! |
If you are wearing a raincoat or you are willing to get sprayed on, you can go and stand in the middle of the Liki Tikis, the playful totem poles grouped in a circle that immediately squirts water to unsuspecting tourists once you pass by in front of it.
Tomorrowland is the playground for the geeks as it has thrill rides which is Space-themed. I just can't keep up with the names of the characters there (akala ko alien lang meron! hahaha) but I so wanted to get on the Orbitron, a space craft-shaped spinning ride.
|
The Orbitron that I really wanted to get in.....sabi ni pader, mahiya daw ako at baka ako lang ang matanda!!! lol |
Bye bye Disneyland....hope to be back again soon with my nieces and nephew....
I told our tour guide not to expect us for the return bus ride as we are going to the TST promenade instead of heading back immediately to the hotel. We took the metro instead. What a laugh it was! Ambaja namuti an wayong ni mader nan pagpikit nija sa exit kay tagkaon an ija card! hahahaha
|
Si fader kesehoda basta moingkod nan tarongon an sapatos! lol |
