Dongmen Shopping Street
And so we left my father in the
hotel to come here ---- Dongmen
Commercial Street.
Para syang Divisoria or Baclaran
na medyo mas malaki ng konti…..the same chaotic mass of people, shops selling
generic fake brand copies from shoes, bags, etc. I am not really a fan of
branded things and even more so of fake copies…..so at first I really don’t
have an idea what to buy and where?
Most of the shops sell one item
each, like one whole street will just be full of shoe stores….as in, all types
of boots, sandals, etc. then the next corner will have bags, etc….
So we just walked and walked
around, stopped at a shop, pointed a few things and smile a lot (since no one will
understand your English anyway). Good thing my mother was such a sport, she
just walked nonstop from one shop to the other without complaints.
We saw a KFC branch near the entrance,
we decided to have a take-out dinner before going back to the hotel……at the
entrance the promo advert was without a word of English except for the “yum”
word….and when we got in, no one spoke English from the entire crew! Hahay
buhay…..
We managed to get our orders
right, with a lot of smiling and nodding and pointing……and then it was time to get
into a taxi…….another 15minutes lost just trying to give instructions and
showing our hotel card.
One thing that I realized with
this trip, it will take a lot of patience to really go around and travel inside
Mainland China especially with my lack of Mandarin language skills. Hopefully
my Lonely Planet guide will point me to the right direction as always……lol
And so our bags are FULL…….time
to go back home…..hahahaha
