Tinuy-an Falls (Bislig City)

We were taken by our motorbike driver directly to the bus terminal of Hinatuan town proper, just an additional 10 pesos from each of us....sulit na talaga!

While waiting for the bus bound for Mangagoy, I went over to the market area and beyond it --- the beautiful, Lianga Bay.

We stayed at the Casa De Babano which is already one of the best places to stay in town. There is definitely a dearth of good hotels to stay in Mangagoy. When I was growing up, we would normally meet up some students from Mangagoy competing in the same divisional contests in Tandag (our provincial capital) and they always look so smart and preppy and I kept on listening to stories of Mangagoy having this and that.....so I really had an image of a bustling city, filled with people and shops.....but what greeted us was a quiet, very provincial, definitely no shopping mall town which is just slightly bigger than our neighboring town of Cantilan. Oh well, we did not come here for the city sights! Lol
The standard twin AC room at Casa De Babano

The perfect vantage point to see the town buzzing about is from the top of the St. Vincent De Paul Parish Church (tama ba ako???).....

And then off to find the street stalls like these, although I don't like this BBQ version --- too much food coloring!

After all that walk around town, only to find out that the best hang-out place is just in our backyard! This pic was taken inside our hotel bar.
Luv the originality of their bar counter design! Hahahaha
There was also a beer promo --- so we ended up drinking more......
The following morning, we woke up early so we can have enough time at our next major destination --- Tinuy-an Falls.

Dubbed the "little Niagara falls of the Philippines", Tinuy-an Falls is hidden inside the forests of Bislig. You have to pass by beautiful villages, rice paddies, and a calm, placid lake in the middle of nowhere. It was such a great way to start our day!

We were lucky to have visited the falls right after a night of nonstop raining, Tinuy-an Falls rose majestically from the hazy mist....it was surreally beautiful. Nearer to the base of the falls, you can hear the sound of the cascading water falling over the rocks at the bottom. About 55 meters height, it is considered the biggest falls in Mindanao....and the most beautiful, with its 3-tiered water curtain!
The current is so strong and the mist just envelopes you when you are near the base.

And here I thought nothing can make it more beautiful than it already is......then this rainbow came out......now its PERFECT!

We got a hard knock though (or make it multiple knocks) on our way back from Mangagoy to Barobo, I don't know what made us think that riding a jeepney is better than waiting for a bus........so we ended up passing through mud pits like these masquerading as "roads".....paging...the ever efficient government officials from the Department of Public Works & Highways!

Forget it! I might not be proud of our roads / highways......but I am really proud to have these hidden gems from Nature right in my province of Surigao del Sur! Dali na kamo, bisita na sa amo probinsya!
