Quirky Melbourne

With at least two hours to kill before we have to show up again for the afternoon tour, we went (together with the new Japanese friend we befriended on the tour bus) to search for a perfect spot to have a leisurely lunch, and what better place to go than the South Bank promenade overlooking the Yarra River rather than stay at the extremely busy restos in the Arcades area. I'm so glad we did!

We crossed over to the iconic Flinders Street Station, went through the pedestrian tunnel under the railway tracks and it opens into the footbridge that leads you to the other side of the Yarra River.

The Yarra Promenade is so alive with people, some were just basking in the sunshine (after such a gloomy start of the morning) which came out so late in the day and the others are just enjoying the faint breeze from the river with a violinist serenading music and a man in a pink tutu playing with bowling pins ---- quirky Melbourne, I love it!

The best place for people-gazing is at the Rivergate Food Court, we gravitated towards the sushi station (our new Japanese declined to eat and opted only to have some hot tea, she's flying back to Tokyo that same night so she doesn't need the sushi but for us, we were salivating!) and I managed to finish off 3 platters of dumplings lol........we sat for awhile and just people-gazed.

After such a heavy lunch, we walked around for a bit. We still have almost an hour left till the continuation of our trip. I really need to get something made locally, so obviously we had to get a fashion souvenir from Australia --- the original, Australian-made UGG boots! O sya kahit na di ko magamit 'to sa bundok ng Jabal Akhdar, di bale na. hahahaha
