Melbourne City Tour : Last Stop - St. Kilda & the Brighton Bathing Boxes

We just need to do two more stops and we are done for the day. Oh well, the sun has started to hide once again so its starting to become dark and gloomy once more.

We were given an hour to roam around St. Kilda, we opted to browse through the weekend open-air market along the St. Kilda esplanade. I always love the vibe of an open-air market, with different stalls carrying eclectic displays of kitschy arts & crafts, organic food, hand-woven clothing or bags or hats.

My niece, Eiesha, wanted to go in to Luna Park just for a peep! We don't have the time though.....

Beach-goer that I am, I immediately set off for the pier and was met with gloomy skies and strong winds.

Time for our final stop before the weather turns ugly......

I honestly for the life of me cannot understand the attraction of bathing boxes, but I still went ahead and ran to the beach to have a look at it. Yay, typical tourist! hahahaha

These bathing boxes were built over a hundred years ago when societal norms dictates that public beach goers must practice modesty and seaside bathing decorum. Nowadays, whoever owns the box (it is very rare for these bathing boxes to be on sale, but the most recent ones sold for a quarter of a million dollars so yeah they are also expensive!) can be put his/her artistic stamp on the box thus making these bathing boxes such a colorful and creative works of art in Brighton beach.

City tour done for the day....time to head on to the shopping malls lol.
